HOW TO RIVAL
How do I find a rival on Rivalspot.com?
Looking for action now? Find your rival by going to any of the Game Arenas. There, you’ll find both the online and offline rivals, along with their stats, Skill Ranking, and Player Feedback. Rivals can be challenged from the Main Arena, by clicking on any of their profiles. Or you can select a specific Game Arena and console, and see which rival has made themselves available to play your game and console of choice.
Now, if you want other rivals to see whether you’re game to play, you need to select your Rivalspot.com games. This is done by logging on, going to your profile, and selecting the “Manage Games” tab. Here, you select your console, and then check the game boxes that you want as part of your Rivalspot.com profile. And then... game on!
How do I set up an Open Match?
Really want to make things easy for you and all rivals to get in on some game? Then all you need to do is create an Open Match. Log in, then click "Create Challenge" from your log in widget, or from any game arena, and then enter in all the game details (Entry Fee, Console, Game, Game Type, Game Mode, Difficulty, Period Length, Date and Time). It’s that easy – you’ve just created an Open Match for all the rivals to size up and accept. To see if there are any Open Matches you’d like to be part of, click on your game of choice, and select the “Open Challenges” tab. There, you’ll see any Head-to-Head challenges that your rivals have set up.
If you want to take part in one of the Open Challenges, click on the “Details” button. Once you find a match that suits your needs, click the "Join Now" button, agree to Rivalspot.com’s Terms and Conditions, then play ball!
Once a rival has accepted your match, you’ll be notified who your rival is, and their Gamertag/PSN ID. However, if the start time of your match arrives, and the challenge still hasn’t been accepted, you’ll be refunded money to your account.
How do I challenge other users?
Ready to throw down the gauntlet -- or just throw down? Once you’re logged in, go to the Main Arena to Challenge your rival in some head-to-head action by clicking the big red button that says “CHALLENGE” (it’s not brain surgery). After that, the “Create a Challenge” window pops up, where you fill in all the details of the challenge. Details are: Entry Fee, Console, Game, Game Type, Game Mode, Difficulty, Period Length, Date and Time, and of course the most important section -- the box where you get to leave a personal message. This is your chance to make sure your rival mans up and accepts your challenge. Once you’ve finalized the challenge details and agreed to Rivalspot.com’s terms and conditions, your rival will receive his challenge through our system notifications and e-mails. Likewise, when your rival accepts your challenge (or rejects it – hey, it does happen) you’ll be notified through site notifications and emails.
How do I locate my rival online?
Rivalspot.com strongly recommends adding your rival to your Xbox Live or Playstation Network Friends List prior to your scheduled match (Head-to-Head game or Tournament). You can view their Gamertag or Network ID on the challenge card, and on your rival’s profile page. In order to make any necessary arrangements, Rivalspot.com also urges you to use all of our site’s methods – chat, messages, forums – to touch base with your rival before your scheduled game begins.
Rivalspot.com recommends that you gear up your console at least 10 minutes before your scheduled game match.
How do I set up my on-game secure results?
Before playing your first Rivalspot.com game, you must have your game settings set up to send the results to Rivalspot.com. Don’t freak – this is a one-shot thing, you don’t have to do this before each game. You can find the instructions on our video tutorial
HERE. After the game has been completed, Rivalspot.com will verify your game results and update them in your profile. Usually, game results are verified within minutes after the game’s conclusion; however, please allow up to one hour after the game is over for verification.
How do I change my PlayStation email address for score verification?
So, in order for your score to be verified by “the gaming gods,” you will need to change your PlayStation e-mail address. First, log in to your playstation.com profile, and change the email link to (your username)@rivalscore.com – for example, if your username is Rolla, then it would be
rolla@rivalscore.com. Get it? Your new email address will be automatically validated, and this will ensure that we at Rivalspot get the results from EA Sports
How do I cancel or edit a scheduled match I’ve created?
You can cancel your match by going to the "Challenges" section under "My Rivalspot." Then, under “Outbound,” you will find the challenge you have created. By clicking "View," you will then go to the challenge detail page, where you can edit or delete your challenge.
You can only cancel a match up to 30 minutes before any game’s scheduled start time. If it’s less than 30 minutes before the game’s scheduled start time, you can’t cancel. This one’s not up for debate.
If, by any reason, you don’t show up for your scheduled game, you will lose your Rivalspot.com game management fee, as well as your entry fee. Be sure to notify Customer Service and your rival if something comes up and you can’t make your scheduled game time (note: “the dog ate my homework” ain’t gonna cut it here).
The only rival who’s permitted to cancel a challenge is its creator.
How do I join a Rivalspot multiplayer Tournament?
On Rivalspot.com click the "Tournaments" tab at the top of the page, which will take directly to the Tournaments Page (you also have the option to view “Featured Tournaments” and “User Created Tournaments”) On the Tournaments Page, you can view all of Rivalspot.com’s current tournaments. To view each individual tournament, merely click on the “Details” button. Then, all you need to do (if you’re ready to step into the ring) is to click the “Join Tournament” button.
What would happen if I get disconnected during my game?
It could happen – you’re kicking someone’s ass online... and the game disconnects. Rivalspot.com knows that a technology glitch can really screw up your day, and we strive to rectify the situation.
If you think the game disconnect was by accident, just contact your rival and replay the match from the beginning; the results of the newly completed game will show up on Rivalspot.com. Easy as that.
However, if you think your rival pulled a fast one and disconnected the game on purpose, use the “QUIT AND COUNT GAME” option. Report the event to our helpful guys at Customer Service, giving a full account of what went down (keep it clean, please.) Also, this calls for a good use of our eBay-like feedback system. A negative feedback is something we take very seriously, and will be handled individually.
Though you may be tempted to finish playing against the computer, DON’T. It’s just going to screw things up; it will hold up the process of declaring the winner, and in case it was an accidental disconnection, it will mess up the process of giving a refund to both users (not to mention if it was an accident, you’ll really piss off your rival!)
Rivalspot.com will be able to verify if the game was disconnected on purpose, or this was just a glitch with the game servers. Rivalspot.com’s trusty Customer Service team will handle each disconnection on a case-by-case basis. Once the Customer Service team has come to a verdict, they will report back to all users involved in the game with their decision.
How much does it cost to enter a tournament and how much money can players win?
Entry fees for Rivalspot.com’s featured tournaments vary – we strive to offer different tournaments tailored to suit our gamers’ skill levels. Entry feels range from $5 - $100.
For player created tournaments, entry fees are determined by the creator of the tournament.
Rivalspot.com’s tournament winnings vary, depending on what type of tournament you compete in – we have a series of different payouts. For more information on our payouts, visit the tournaments page.
What types of games/tournaments does Rivalspot.com offer, and how do prizes work?
Rivalspot.com players have the option to compete in several different styles of tournaments. We offer:
Multiplayer tournaments
Rivalspot offers major multi-level tournaments for all games available on the site. You can view these tournaments in the sponsored tournaments section and register to play. These tournaments range in size from 4 to 32 players and offer Huge Jackpots and Payouts! To enter and play the first round (hey, you wanna play, you gotta pay!), you must pay a fee, but all following rounds are free. Each round is a two-player competition. While the winner advances to the next round, the loser is eliminated from the tournament. Generally prizes are awarded after every round, with the prizes growing larger with each round. These tournaments will keep going until one player survives a set number of rounds, and all other players have been eliminated. You got what it takes to come out on top? Then prove it!
Head-to-head and direct challenges
Players face off in a two-player competition, with the challenger choosing the game, entry fee and duration of the challenge. Winner takes all.
For certain games such as NHL 10, NBA Live 10 and FIFA 10, automatic verification are not always possible. For these games, please allow for up to 12 hours before results are verified and winnings are deposited into the proper accounts.
My opponent did not show up to the scheduled multi-player tournament match, what do I do?
If your rival fails to show up to your scheduled Tournament match, then you’ll automatically receive a bye into the Tournament’s next round. Rivalspot.com suggests that you wait at least 30 minutes after the start time of your match before letting Customer Service know that your opponent is a No Show. The reason for this? The Internet, as much as we may love it, still is prone to connectivity problems; sometimes users have a hell of a time getting online. Also, you need to send your opponent a message on both the console and Rivalspot.com, to remind them when and where you’re supposed to meet for your game. Also, please see
this topic.
While entering into a multi-player tournament, how do I find out when my scheduled game time is?
A list of all your upcoming scheduled Tournaments is located under “My Rivalspot.” All the info you need can be found on the list, including the date, time, which rival you’ll be playing against, and their PSN ID or Gamertag. You an also click on “View” to get to the challenge detail page. Also, when you sign up for a Multi-Player Tournament, you’ll receive a confirmation email, with all the Tournament details.
How long does a scheduled tournament game last?
The head-to-head and tournament games each have different limits in which they’re played. Rivalspot.com strongly urges you to read through the rules, as well as the Terms and Conditions, very carefully.
In Rivalspot.com’s head-to-head games, you have up to 30 minutes to complete the game. Rivalspot.com has picked this amount of time in order for you to have enough time to locate your opponent and start the game. Please refer to the tournaments schedule, posted in the details for each specific tournament.
What does Rivalspot.com do to prevent cheating?
Our Rivalspot.com Security Team is keeping a close eye on the gaming action, and they immediately investigate any and all reports of cheating. Rivalspot.com does not take this lightly; also, through our Feedback System, we have our community keeping a special eye on each other, reporting positive or negative feedback after each game. The feedback that our users give will affect that player's overall Rivalspot.com track record – and it will be visible in every user’s profile. Which means if you have a negative rep, nobody will want to play with you. And that ain’t fun. Also, please see
this topic.
How does Rivalspot.com know who won the games?
Thanks to Rivalspot.com’s exclusive technology, we have an automated verification system that obtains the stats of all games played by its users. Since Rivalspot.com gets these stats directly from the gaming servers, the authenticity of the outcome is not in any question. Rivalspot.com independently verifies the results of each game based on a number of criteria.
What are skill points, and how are they calculated?
So, here’s the deal – Rivalspot wants to make sure you know how to tell the top players from the, well, not-as-good players, so you can determine which ones you’re ready to take on. In order to do that, we have a formula. Each of our seven games (NHL, NFL, NCAA Football, NCAA Basketball, FIFA, Fight Night) has their own points: NHL points, NFL points, etc. – each game’s points are their own separate entity. Meaning, your skill points for FIFA are not combined with your skill points for Madden.
Anyway, here’s the skill points formula that shows you who rules any specific title (and who needs to go back to the minors):
PTS = GP + (W - L)
GP = Games played until now;
W = How many times he won until now;
L = How many times he lost until now;
PTS = Total points.
Just so you know, games without a clear winner or loser are not counted in the skill points formula. Because, well, there’s no clear winner or loser – it would kind of screw up the stats, now wouldn’t it?
